On February 10th 2025, Coding Club, Maths Club and Science Club collaborated on an event that aimed to promote STEM disciplines to a local primary school.
We planned a full day of activities between the 3 clubs, each focusing on a different part of STEM in the hopes of allowing students to explore these interests in an interactive and engaging way.
Coding Club introduced MOVE:Motors, a robot that can be programmed using Micro:bits, which the students were already familiar with. The students used block code to make the robot detect a black line on a white piece of paper and follow the route. It was an activity that promoted collaboration between the students and exercised their coding skills in a fun and engaging way.
It was great to see students that felt confident in their coding abilities lead their group, as well as seeing the students that were less confident ask us and their classmates questions in order to understand the task at hand.
We are proud to have inspired so many students and to have introduced them to the sometimes intimidating world of STEM in a way that was more approachable and interactive.
We thank every volunteer that collaborated on this project with us, and for showing so much infectious passion for STEM.
